Trinity Lutheran School Curriculum
The curriculum at Trinity is focused on helping students grow in their love and knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The curriculum varies at different ages as appropriate. We believe it is important to focus on the spiritual, cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of each child. State standards are followed as a minimum standard for Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Technology and field trips are utilized to facilitate and expand the curriculum. A curriculum summary trifold brochure is available for each grade level from PS – 8th Grade. Our complete curriculum can be reviewed in the office upon request.
Early Elementary-aged Children (Kindergarten-Grade 2)
The primary focus for children at this age is early literacy. Letters, letter sounds (phonemes), print, rhyming, sight words, and reading fluency are important at this age. Eventually comprehension of what has been read is a focus. Writing is important to the early literacy process as well. Math, science, geography, English, physical education, art, and music are covered. Students are encouraged to grow in their independence and responsibility.

Primary-aged Children (Grades 3-5)
Students at this level are encouraged in becoming more independent in their work. In the core subject areas listed above, more abstract concepts are introduced. Reports, projects, and presentations are done by students to share what they have learned with others. Athletics and band (Grade 5) are options for students at this age. A strong foundational education is provided as a catalyst to success in the middle school.

Middle School-aged Children (Grades 6-8)
The primary focus for children at this age is success in high school. Departmentalization is done to maximize teacher strengths, but all teachers stay in close contact with each other so that students’ needs are met. Students begin in their home room each morning before any departmentalized instruction begins. The expectations for student learning are high so that the transition to high school will be met with great success by all students. Technology is a critical component of instruction at this level. Teachers work with parents and students in the high school placement process at the end of the 8th Grade year.
