The Explorers (ages 5-6)
Our four-year-olds are called the Explorers (4’s Plus). The ratio of children to teachers in this room is 12:1. In this room the children experience a structured preschool program from 8:30-11:00 each day of the week. The curriculum is design for preparation for Kindergarten and includes opportunities for growth in all areas of development. Units are taught incorporating letters, numbers, science, social studies, music, art and a variety of other necessary information for success in Kindergarten and beyond. “Jesus Time” is taught each day using the Voyages Four-year-old Curriculum revolving around a different Bible story each week. Voyages is a great program that helps to bring the Bible stories to life for the children. The afternoons in the Explorers’ room are less structured than the morning yet still filled with learning opportunities. The children have outdoor play, do projects and activities and enjoy free choice play.
